What we do
One location for an entire release — pre-production, tracking, mixing, mastering, live sessions, podcasts and promo content. First-timers welcome; we'll walk you through it.
Recording & Tracking
Full-band tracking in a room with 24-foot vaulted ceilings and skylights — the kind of space that puts real air and size into a drum kit. A 24-channel snake, personal headphone mixes for every player, and a dedicated reamp line for guitars and bass.
Full-Song Production
From a voice memo to a finished, releasable record — tracking, overdubs, editing, vocal production, tone development, mixing, mastering and revisions. Choose a fast live/demo capture or a full production build.
Mixing & Mastering
Hybrid analog + in-the-box mixing with a point of view — drum editing, vocal tuning, automation, mix-bus processing and stem delivery. Mastering for streaming, vinyl and high-res, recorded here or supplied remotely.
Pre-Production & Reamping
Tighten arrangements, set tempos and catch performance issues before the clock starts. Then capture clean DI and develop guitar and bass tones after the take with our dedicated reamp line.
Live Sound & Event Production
Live sound engineering, venue production, multitrack live recording, concert video and post-show mixing. Every event is different — we'll quote it to fit.

The control room is built around a Crest Century GTX analog console and a Slate Raven touchscreen desk, with analog patching, outboard processing and multiple monitor systems for translation checks. A camera feed keeps eyes on the live room at all times.
The live room features 24-foot vaulted ceilings, skylights and serious square footage — the kind of room that puts real size and air into a drum kit before you touch a single plugin. A 24-channel snake, personal monitor mixes and a dedicated reamp line handle the technical side. The isolated vocal booth runs its own headphone mixes for vocals, voiceover and overdubs.
The locker
Analog front-ends, classic-style dynamics, a deep mic collection and a full video rig. The signal chain supports 1073-, 1176-, LA-2A- and Pultec-style coloration.

Mike Gough is the owner and lead engineer of Hypernova Recording Studios. With more than 20 years of experience in live sound, studio production, recording and mixing, Mike combines musician-focused production with a strong technical background.
Hypernova was built to give bands, artists, podcasters and creators access to professional rooms, flexible routing, analog equipment and modern digital production — with straightforward guidance and none of the intimidating atmosphere of a traditional commercial studio. A background in software engineering and automation keeps the whole operation technically sharp.
